He wrote with Michael Cretu the music for the song "Steady Me" from Sandra. Played the guitar on the record "Schwarzer Engel" from Michael Cretu´s 1985 solo-project "Cretu" and he had many years with Michael a music partner-/friendship...

Born Jan. 29th 1951 in Vienna. Started Peter his career on stage in Berlin and Hamburg in the musical "Hair". After his study he formed in 1970 his first band "Peter Cornelius and the Leaves". But his succes came after his ORF(Austrian)-TV appearence in "Showchance 1973" with "Die Wolk´n". His second record "Hampelmann" was a smash-hit which stood for 3 weeks on the nr.1 spot of the Austrian hitparade. At the beginning of 1975 United Artists-records released his first album "Fleckerlteppich".

"Ein Rose Aus Papier", "Fleckerlteppich ", "Telefon-nummer" and "Calafatti " are his succes-titles with which he established a good name in the music-scene. In 1978 he went back to the stages, now of the Vienna-Theatre, with Ivan Rebroff in "Das Glass Wasser".

But his succes really started in 1979, became popular in Germany, when Michael Cretu became his producer. With " Der Kaffee Ist Fertig" (1980) they presented a classicer. "Du Entschuldige I Kenn Di" (1981), " Reif Für Die Insel" (1982), " Es Wird Immer Sein Wie's Immer War" (1983)," Segel Im Wind" and "Zufällig" (1990) are their greatest hits.

At the end of the eighties the team Cretu/Cornelius split and Peter went back from Munich to Vienna.

In 1993 they prolong their music-partnership with the release of the duo-LP: "Cornelius + Cretu".
